Artist's Comments

This was a shoot done for an article on me in the New Times. The columnist wanted to sit in on a shoot and interview me during. Melinda and I airbrished Jaime black... well half of her anyway.
I really liked the idea of her disappearing into the black background. The shoot and the article turned out pretty good.. I blew this up pretty big for a show.
hope you like.

It really is an intriguing photo... it deserves a second, third, fourth, fifth.. an infinite number of looks... it compells you to keep looking at it :-) a very intriguing concept.

And so wonderful of you to explain part of how it was accomplished. Every little tidbit of how different kinds of photos can be done is gold to the amateur photogrpaher :-)

yes, neat idea, and its awsome how her left eye really contrasts with the black surrounding it. when glancing it seems if shes fading into shadows, like it. Iguess in this case there really is a good side to shoot ;) sorry horrible joke.

that's wonderful. the dark part on the girl creates another face, that's just amazing. i love that photograph.

Applause! Applause! Applause!

Did you use some 3200ASA or some other high-speed film?
